Come Walk With Us!

The Sugarloafers Walking Club promotes physical fitness through noncompetitive sporting events. Our events are designed to help community members have fun, become fit, and make friends. We hope you'll join us!

We sponsor walks and hikes based on the concept of "volkssporting." Volkssporting started in Germany and, simply defined, is a personal fitness sports and recreation program offering noncompetitive walks, hikes, bike rides, swims, and in some regions cross-country skiing. You choose when to participate, and can participate in the sport at your own pace. Walking – also called “volksmarching” – is the most popular of all the volkssporting activities. The normal distance is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) or 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). If you feel that you cannot walk that far, please let us know and we will help you reach that goal!
